Down & Dirty?

I’m loving the feel of this first trailer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. It’s looking a bit edgy, the Star Wars universe getting a little down and dirty and that’s not a bad thing. Check it out:

At this particular time, words fail me, but in a good way. I. Can’t. Wait.

In a small part of Hertfordshire, big things were going on.

Sometimes it’s the “ordinary” people that make something extraordinary. Of course, if your acting résumé includes Star Wars you really aren’t ordinary at all. Here’s a trailer for Elstree 1976, a documentary about 10 people who didn’t get top billing alongside Mark Hamill or Carrie Fisher but were – and still are – just as important to cinema’s best-loved franchise.

Imdb shows this as having an October 2015 release date, but I don’t think it had a UK-wide release. Looking online, it seems they’re getting a May 6th 2016 release in the US at a few indie theatres and as for a Blu Ray/ DVD release, well, I just don’t know. Which is a shame, because it looks like Jon Spira has created a really great piece of documentary cinema.

SW Ep VIII – it’s started!

So, with a warm and fuzzy feeling encapsulating most of the planet with regards the excellent Episode VII, it’s now time to crank up the anticipation for Rian Johnson’s take on the Star Wars universe.

We’ve had announcement trailers for trailer releases (which I don’t really get), now we’ve got announcement trailers for the beginning of principle photography. Yeah, I know, it’s sad, but I’ve been sucked in like the Millennium Falcon on a Death Star tractor beam with this one!

There’s just something about that beginning – the sound, the music, Skellig Island, the sight of an older Luke. I have faith in Mr Johnson. He’s writing and directing this one and he wrote and directed Looper, which was mind-blowing! We’ll have to wait until 15th December 2017, so it’s not  too long! Oh…hold on…

Star Wars The Force Awakens – Appropriate

While my One-Word-Review may seem a little underwhelming, it is absolutely not intended as such. I’m just coming to it from a nostalgic point of view. I went with my dad to see the original Star Wars back in 1977, so to sit in the IMAX witnessing J J Abrams’ latest instalment filled my heart with joy!

Star Wars The Force Awakens hit all the right notes at all the right times. It was a joy to watch. I for one can’t wait to see what Rian Johnson has in store for us with Episode VIII.

It’s been a while

Well, I’m going to start the New Year with wholly good intentions. I’ve decided to make my film reviews a bit more brief and we’ll see how it goes.

In the mean time, if you’ve read my blog before – and thank you if you have – you’ll know I have a penchant for poster art and character posters.

What better place to kick off my posts than with a few from Star Wars The Force Awakens. Enjoy.

2 posts on a Saturday?!?

This is just a quickie in addition to the main post, but one I had to write after perusing my twitter timeline. There are some 56.3k people following @ollymoss and the chances that any of those people are also following my blog are pretty slim – so I’m doing you a favour. As I’ve mentioned in previous posts, he’s one of my favourite Illustrators/ Designers/ Artists and he posted a new original Star Wars poster a short while ago. It’s flipping lovely and I know you, dear reader, will like it too.

It’s a work-in-progress apparently, but it sure looks good to me already. Thank you for reading 🙂
