How to do it well…and how not…

So, only last week I was sort of bemoaning the fact that there weren’t any good trailers around. And just like a London bus, you wait for ages and 3 or 4 turn up at the same time! Following on from yesterday’s posting, here’s a couple of trailers for stuff I’m looking forward to and another for something I’m not.

First up we some more promotional stuff for Dwayne Johnson‘s latest, San Andreas. As I mentioned previously, it’s looking pretty good and the element of dread is right there – and why wouldn’t it be when the whole western sea-board slips disastrously into the Pacific. I’ve got quite high hopes for this. We’ll have to wait until 29th May to find out here in the UK. Enjoy.

Next up is Brad Bird‘s Tomorrowland: A World Beyond. Not sure why they added to the title, other than to make it more of a mouthful, but there you go. Once again, this is a film I’ve been looking forward to. Mr. Bird has proven himself to be a top-notch director, both of animated features and live-action. Tomorrowland: AWB is released on 22nd May 2015 in the UK.

And for the pièce de résistance I present to you John Travolta‘s latest foray into the world of movies. Whilst the first two trailers you’ve had the pleasure of watching today have given you a sense of feel for the forthcoming attractions, it’s fair to say this piece of promotion does little to excite or entice. Just like the trailer for The Gunman, The Forger pretty much takes you through the whole narrative arc in its 130-odd seconds. Mr. Travolta does a fine job of impersonating an almost animated waxwork figure – with a ridiculous haircut – while Christopher Plummer and the rest of the cast deliver their lines with enough emotion to convince no-one. Anyway, it’s worth watching once just to see how bad it is. And if you enjoy, fair play to you!

That’s it for today.

Thank you for reading 🙂
