As I’ve no doubt stated in a previous post, I do like a good set of character posters for a forthcoming/ future release. And Dawn of the Planet of the Apes is no exception. In all fairness, it’s hard to discern whether these little beauties constitute character posters, as we haven’t really got much (if any) information on this July 2014 release. What is interesting is the depiction of some kind of war paint or face paint to denote hierarchy or differing clans/ factions within the evolved simian society. Anyway, I think I’ve used up my daily quota of “or” and “/” within this post, so let’s get to the ad campaign.
Hopefully these are depictions of the main simian characters within Dawn… and we get a film that builds on the intelligent scripting we were treated to in Rise of the Planet of the Apes. To say I was a little disappointed when Rupert Wyatt walked during pre-production of Dawn… is an understatement, but with Matt Reeves taking over the helm I’m pretty sure this follow-up is in very good hands. I really liked Reeves’ breakthrough movie, Cloverfield, and was pleasantly surprised by his reworking of Let the Right One In, entitled Let Me In. In addition, with Andy Serkis reprising his role as Caesar alongside Gary Oldman, Jason Clarke and Judy Greer, here’s hoping for a film of some quality.
I hope you find these posters as interesting as I do. Thank you for reading 🙂
And here’s a nice teaser trailer that has been released today. Enjoy!
